Sorry, No free lunch.
Why do Internet ads want you to visit their site,
and use such corny gimmicks to get you to click on their URL link?
- If you are lucky, it is just a slick trick for advertising their site, hoping you will buy something,
or increase their statistics for readership so they can then promote themselves to other advertisers.- If you are less lucky and foolish enough to leave your e-mail address,
they will sell your address to e-mail bulk mail lists and you will be bombarded with Junk e-mail,
marked for life or until you change your e-mail address.- Or they will put a cookie or other spyware on your computer to watch your moves...
Why? Potential sales or just because some people don't have a life and vicariously enjoy mucking up yours with voyeristic pranks.- If you are really unlucky, they will trick you to dial a high cost phone number for which you will be billed,
get you to sign up for a service you don't want, or get your credit card number and suck your account dry,
possibly even stealing your identity for illegal immigrants, professional credit fraud and/or even terrorist use.
So do be careful.
