Since the beginning, Kyoto International School has been a school for and of the people. In other words, parents have done most of the work, while putting demands on a devoted though often over taxed faculty and staff.
But we are not complaining.

Parental involvement, community participation, and knowing the nuts and bolts of our children's education are just some of the reasons we love the KIS experience.
In recent years KIS has had unparalleled cooperation with our city government, allowing us to enjoy our largest facility ever, complete with playground and gym.
But times remain hard for the Kyoto foreign community. KIS has never been a rich school and these times are no exception. There just isn't enough corporate presence, resources are spread thin, and our excellent education remains the result of lots of love, elbow grease, and heartfelt chutzpah.
